Centre
of Creativity
The Centre
of Creativity, home to a small multi-cultural, multi-skilled, committed and
playful community, opened its doors again in February 2005 with a grand and
beautiful sea view building, "Norton Lodge" at 20 West Hill Road, St Leonards
on Sea.
Founded
by an exceptionally talented local wood-carving Artist, Youth worker Registered
Childminder and Foster carer Tom Abbass-Saal and his wife Amal Abbass-Saal,
an experienced Child, Adolescent and Family Psychotherapist, Registered Childminder
and Foster carer, the Centre of Creativity has developed a strong team of
local, national and internationally based Artists, Therapists, Mentors, Teachers,
Authors, and Motivational Speakers, all filled with vision and imagination.
Only the
best are good enough to enrich the Centre of Creativity's colourful program
of community education, in the form of inclusive workshops, after school and
holiday clubs, creative birthday and other celebratory parties, bring-a-dish
social events, lectures, retreats, group and 1to1 therapeutic sessions. Reaching
beyond the boundaries of mainstream education, often working with the marginalised.
The Centre
of Creativity actively builds bridges where divides of race, class, gender,
age, sexual orientation and ability prevents people from accessing community.
A place of safe and positive growth and learning, here Diversity is most certainly
a Capital letter word and filled with meaning: in the meeting of the young
and the old, in the flexible and open experimentation of different mediums
of self expression, creatively exploring the inner and outer landscapes in
Sandplay, Weaving, Clay, Carving, Mosaic, Drumming, Marbling, Poetry, Drama,
Games, Meditations, Storytelling, Cooking, different cultures and beliefs
and so on.
The Centre
of Creativity has developed strong links and partnerships with many organisations
within the voluntary and statutory sector, and works within ethical guidelines
and policies, and current legislation. So, all there is left to do is: Welcome
YOU to bring and receive your gifts!
