DR.MALIDOMA SOME, a native of the Dagara in the West African nation of Burkina Faso, will share a unique perspective on the significant role of "Rights of Passage: Initiation for Adolescents & Elders". James Hillman refers to Malidoma as "one of my best teachers" & in order to embarc on his life's mission, Malidoma gave up a comfortable professorial position teaching African culture at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He now actively contributes worldwide to "what the elders of the indigenous world dream of: seeing cultures from all over come to a point of mutual understanding & respect so that the wounds created by their experiences with each other can come to a healing place." Initiation is seen as a crucial step in remembering ones origin, identity, the very gifts and purpose of a persons life and award winning author Alice Walker honours Malidoma's personal story "as a missing shimmering piece of the story of the earth".
